A storm is suddenly coming up. It is scary. The sky turned a strange shade of dark, things are blowing around from the high wind and lightning it lighting up the sky. Need to close down before we get zapped. Tornado warnings??? Do you have scary storms where you live? What are they like and what do you do to get through them?

I turn it off for lightning. I don't want the computer to be fried.

We don't have tornadoes, but we get some really scary thunderstorms too, and on occasion the hail can be pretty bad as well. I hope today's storm wasn't too bad.

@akalinus Good to hear that everything's okay now. I tend to worry when our storms get bad too, especially since we had a hailstorm that broke 13 of our windows a few years back.

@Gina145 Wow, 13 windows! That was an expensive thing to replace. Sometimes, hail breaks car windows, too.

I have seen much worse. It was quite intense for a little while and then calmed down, thank goodness. I was a little worried, though.

You got storms, we got typhoons. Flood and tsunami are our biggest enemies.

@akalinus we had typhoon Haiyan, the strongest typhoon in the world. It was awful.

Those do not sound like very much fun. We get hurricanes. We had some bad ones a few years ago and I still shudder with the memory.

@toniganzon I heard that there was a lot of loss of life. I have heard other people talk about it.

@akalinus - Ms Jo Ann - Plenty of weather around here. Pull the electric chords out of the wall - that's what we have to do lots of the time.

@akalinus - Ms Jo Ann - Likely, it is less expensive to replace electric cords worn out from being constantly pulled than it is to replace things such as electric appliances. Today we went through the exercise two times. Lots of thunder and lightning.

@Ceerios We live near the lightning capital of the US. Lots of lightning here in the summer.

The storms here in Northern California are pretty benign by my (Midwestern) standards. We getearthquakes instead.

I lived in the San Francisco/San Jose area for a few years. I remember the earthquakes well.

It looks like it is over for now. The sky is still a strange color but the wind, lightning, and rain have stopped.
