Just when you thought I was finished with Malta, here I am again with the stunning stamp that paid the passage for the Greeting postcard to reach my Southern most shores. Very regal - called the Knights of St John. the history behind the Knights of St John are as follows: "The Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta (Latin: Supremus Ordo Militaris Hospitalis Sancti Ioannis Hierosolymitani Rhodius et Melitensis), also known as the Sovereign Military Order of Malta (SMOM) or Order of Malta, is a Catholic lay religious order traditionally of military, chivalrous and noble nature" Did you know: ~ Malta is not one island – it’s an archipelago! - which is a chain of Islands. ~ Malta is a popular filming location for big budget productions - Even game of Thrones ~ Malta is home to 10 UNESCO World Heritage Sites - Now that I find very fascinating. Another interesting find is that Malta is known to be one of the 48th Happiest countries in the world. So what do you think of another great stamp to add to my collection ?

That stamp is really beautiful. I did not know Malta is home to 10 Unesco World Heritge Sites, that is very interesting.

I remember being very impressed at the cost of 51 cents to mail to South Africa, which is about 40% of the price of postage from England.

@Inlemay I doubt that it travelled via the UK because we are much further North. I posted 2 to the USA from Malta at the same time and the total cost of the 3 was about the same as the cost of one from here. I was delighted about that. I had a 5 Euro note in one hand and some change in the other, but ended up just handing over a few coins.

and it probably goes via UK to get to us - strange costs that vary - I only pay 1/3 pound to send to you . . R7 which is very cheap

I love the way you can turn one tiny postage stamp into an interesting story for us to read.

@Inlemay - Appreciate you sharing that Maltese Cross stamp with us. Reminds a person of ages past, the Crusades, and knights overweighting their war horses and things like that. Fun to see the stamp.

It seems there is a great history to Malta, this tiny little group of Islands in the Med.
