I Have to Return My Neilson Scanner

In the mail this morning is a letter telling me that Neilson has discovered that they have too many people scanning and my area is over saturated. So, I have been taken off the program and need to return my scanner. I have NO idea how many years I've been scanning for them--I would guess at least 10 years. In that time I've traded points in for a 2-3 person tent, a stick vaccuum, a griddle, 2 pillows, 6 plug plug in adapter and a beauty set. For returning the scanner they say they will send me a $25 reward plus 2 weeks after I've shipped it back I am to call in and see what I can get with whatever points are in my account. The past few years I have been very lax in scanning and transmitting the scanner. I would say that is more the reason why they are dropping me. The last year I've barely even scanned anything--when I do buy something I forget, but for the most part, I just don't buy a lot of things. I'm not really too sad as it's one less thing to worry about. I'm going to check my points now and make a note of something I might want that I have enough points for. Are you scanning for Neilson?

I do not know about Neilson. Was it easy to get into their program? It is a bummer they stopped you, but that's nice you were able to get a little reward.

not long ago they were accepting anyone. I'm not sure if you are in the US or not, but I do think it's only US.

I haven't tried scanning for them. I wanted to but I don't have a landline and they require it during the registration process.

I used to do one scanning program that required a landline to get the information from. I don't remember what it was called but they closed several years ago.

@marsha32 I would've loved doing the scanning program as I love shopping.

I used to scan too. Did so for several years until I got sick and couldn't be responsible to get it done anymore. Hope you get a nice gift.

This is interesting, I've never heard of it before. About how much time per week did you devote to this when you were doing it regularly?

I was supposed to scan everything every time I shopped. Some stores were easy, but some you also had to put in the price of each item. In the beginning they sent lots of free gifts like pens and mugs, dry eraase shopping lists and such. I just get so busy that I wouldn't scan for a whole month. This last time I scanned I hadn't scanned for 6 weeks. Time and me aren't getting along any more.

It might be one less thing to worry about, but seems like something you enjoyed doing. Wonder what is next?

I've never scanned for them, but it will be one thing less to worry about. The $25 will be nice.

I found it to be a pain. As you say, something to worry about. I did not like it and sent the scanner back long before I earned anything.

Oh wow that is a huge bummer. I worry that they will drop me too at times as sometimes it goes weeks between when I remember to submit my scans. I have gotten quite a few things over the years. I like the program I just forget to submit my data.

Sorry to hear you have to turn it back in and can't do the scanning anymore. I hope you can get something good with your points that will be worth it.

I used to do it and I loved it. I can't remember why we had to stop but I wish they would invite me back.

I didn't like doing it and sent the scanner back a few days after I got it.
