A Language Translating Machine?!

While resting my tired body after showering last night, I snoozed on the couch. I got a funny dream – An Iphone-like language translating machine. It looks (in my dream) like the drawing above. How does it work? Let us take as an example: Prez Putin, who, I think, does not speak English and soon-to-be-Prez Donald Trump, who surely does not speak Russian. Prez Putin invites the Donald to go to Russia just for a friendly brunch. Both have their own LTM. Before they talk to each other, they switch on their LTMs. Prez Putin presses outbound and selects American English and selecting Russian for inbound. The Donald likewise turns on his LTM, selects Russian for outbound and American English for inbound. So, when Prez Putin speaks in Russian (outbound) what Donald Trump hears is American English (inbound) and vice-versa. Good, ey? What about the tone? Well, they may select how they sound by pressing the tone button. There are thousands of different voices and intonations to choose from - - from the voice of Tom Cruise to Homer Simpson. What are the advantages of this LTM? There is no need for translators. And there is no need to learn different languages in school. Apple, Samsung, Blackberry, and even Microsoft will be making and selling a new type of cellphone that doubles as LTM. It will sell like hotcakes; hence, good for world economy. What do you think of this dream? Whew, crazy, ey?

You are a good scientist and you can even outdo Einstein. That's a great invention. Better have a patent for that before any other guy dreams and beats you to the buzzer :)

@sunrisefan I already asked our pretty CEO, @toniganzon , to do it for me. If she shares me a bit of the billions of dollars (not yen) she will make out of this crazy idea, fine! But just a tight hug and a steamy kiss (lips to lips) would be good enough for me!

@LadyDuck You know I used to live in Kelowna, British Columbia (Western Canada) in the early 90's. Being newly landed immigrant I was excited to learn French. Canada is bilingual (English and French); so one day I phoned the City of Kelowna to inform them that I wanted learn French. They told me to move to Quebec if I wanted to learn French! I was really disappointed. In reality Canada is not bilingual.

I think the problem would exist, which exists with all translation devices, the machines make mistakes...um, at times basic ones...and translations from these devices can be...garbage...of course I am only viewing the negative aspects of this...the outcome could be horrible...OR really REALLY funny;).

Is this supposed to be a voice translating machine or a word translating machine? sounds like a brilliant idea

It is a word (with sound, of course) translating machine . . . Example: Julio Iglesias greets his Canadian fan (me) thru his LTM - - COMO ESTA, JULITO? - - - His words come out - - "HOW ARE YOU, JULITO. Then I respond thru my LTM - - " I AM FINE, AND HOW ARE YOU, TOO! WASSUP!" - - what he hears is - YO SOY BIEN! Y COMO ESTA TAMBIEN? QUE PASA!?"
