Do You Like it Medium Rare or Well Done?

Before cooking dinner, I asked my husband and son what they wanted, chicken or fish.
They both replied fish but one said:"make it medium rare." The other said: "mine is well-done, crunchy!" I like it medium rare if it's a fish like blue marlin or gindara (cod fish/sablefish). If not, I like it well done for other fish to remove some fishy smell.
I just put salt and ground peppercorns on it. It tasted so good.
Do you like fish half cooked (medium rare) or well done?

True, sushi and sashimi are eaten raw (fish). Other kinds of fish should really be cooked well.

Sushi aside, no. I will eat sushi but every other fish must be cooked. I've always thought that an uncooked fish, or only slightly cooked, can be one of the most dangerous things to eat...

Yes, there are only some species of fish that can be eaten half cooked; others should be well done to make it safe to eat.

I very seldom eat fish but tried some of that fish at the restaurant and I do have to say I would have it again.

I understand. Some fish could be smelly when not cooked through and through.

@acelawrites Yes, crispy and delicious that's the tail for me. I think you are right with cod . But it can be made crispy outside when you dip it in cornstarch and beaten egg before frying . That way , the outside is crispy but the inside is soft to eat .

Crispy and delicious! But if it is a big fish like gindara (cod) it is tastier if not so overcooked.

That's the best reason why it should be cooked well, for safe eating.

I prefer well done myself. Crunchy on the outside but juicy and chewy on the inside.

Sometimes I use turmeric or curry powder, ginger, or citronella leaves, oregano, or screwpine leaves.Just put it inside the stomach area or in the mouth of the fish. Or just put it in the pan.

Lol! they even have demand as to how the fish should be cooked. I rarely ate fish unless it's milkfish, medium or well done, doesn't make any difference,as long as it taste good.

It was a gindara, or a cod which is white and has lots of oil in it, a nutritious Omega 3. It does not have too much fishy smell too, so I think it should not be overcooked.

Well done! But I like vegetables half-cooked! Like Ilocos' pinakbet!

@acelawrites yes!!! And I don't like to see blood in my food, I mean raw blood.
But when it comes to veggies, I can eat them raw or half cooked. I don't like them to be soggy and overcooked.

When I think of medium rare, I don't usually think of fish. I like mine cooked till it's done. I prefer my red meats well-done.
