Talk about empty nest syndrome....

I truly have empty nest syndrome....and it was a real nest!
When baby bluebird went missing the other day I must have missed the other 4 leaving the nest. Since that day mom nor dad nor any baby ever came back. We don't know for sure if something got them all or they just didn't like the living arrangements.
I made my husband get the nest down and check - it was empty. It's been a few days now and I just have to assume that they are alive and well and brightening someone else's day.
My husband will fix the column so that no birds will be able to build nest there. They can use the birdhouse or figure something else out.
Photo belongs to me.

@miniam That nest was about the 5th one - they didn't do a good job and they kept blowing down ....this one survived - so she was technically a few weeks behind schedule by the time those eggs hatched.

We need to put up some more birdhouses for that sort of thing, I like having them around to combat bugs

I guess it was, but it seemed too early. I wish I knew a bluebird specialist!

@AbbyGreenhill Do you have a local wildlife sanctuary? We have one here, that would be able to answer that kind of question for you.

@AbbyGreenhill I know LOL. I think that once the babies can fly, all the family goes elsewhere.

I don't think birds can think like that LOL. They were not afraid of us at all.

I just hope they have upsized ... lol's growing family and all that.... they do choose some weird places to have nests... last year a bird made a nest in the plastic outlet vent/hose that goes out of the window... of our gas water heater lo's ... that was a job to relocate them as we live in a block of flats on the second floor...

Wow, that was a strange place. I assume they are no longer in any kind of nest..I assume roosting in the trees at night.

The birdnest looks cosy.....after they left, it must feel like a tiny chunk of life is gone, but it will be okay after a few days.
The birds couldn't thank you enough for the shelter you gave them.

This must be the reason why the family moved.
