Lake Thunderbird in Norman, Oklahoma is named for the Native American legend of the thunderbird who is supposed to have supernatural power and strength. Lake Thunderbird has boating, fishing and hiking with 6000 acres to enjoy. There are also nature trails, archery, horse rental and boarding, equestrain trails, rental cabins and primitive campsites. It also boasts a restaurant and two casinos. They also have shelters that you can rent for parties or weddings which I have been to and it was a lot of fun. There is good fishing and swimming there.

Looks fun. I wouldn't mind a boat ride. It's been a long time since one was taken. It would be nice to get to those activities that were once enjoyed. Continue to enjoy what Oklahoma has to offer.

@teep11 It is fun to be out on the lake in a boat. I am no longer in Oklahoma but when I lived there it was fun and many different things to do.

Is the lake natural or manmade?

@JohnRoberts It was originally made as a reservoir to provide water to nearby communities.

@enlightenedpsych2 If you ever have the chance to go there they also have setups for Rv's and campers or just tents.

I've never been to a lake, but we do have a river here but I don't think it's a good thing for fishing.

@JusrBhem That is to bad that you have no lake near you but generally a river does have fish in it.

@JustBhem I wonder why they don't fish there or are there no fish in that river?

I've never heard of this lake before but I love knowing where the name comes from and what's there! It sounds like a piece of paradise.
