A Song Even I Can Dance To

I am a lousy dancer, someone with two left feet, or possibly two right feet, but feet guaranteed to tread on the feet of others occupying the dance floor. I can even mess up the Hokey Kokey. At one pub, it was a regular thing for me and a lady there to do a spoof smoochy dance at the end of the Sunday nights. She was married to another regular customer and, he like everyone, knew we were just being silly. One lady who wasn’t in on the joke actually saw us one night and went to the landlord complaining that the customers were making fun of a man who was clearly mentally disabled – she meant me. The landlord knew I was a graduate, but she refused to be convinced. She never came back. One dance I could / can do is that to Billy Joel’s Uptown Girl, which is literally two steps left – two steps right, repeat until the song ends. It may be the simplest dance ever – thank you Billy Joel. Here it is performed in the Youtube with the Uptown Girl played by Joel’s then supermodel wife, Christine Brinkley. The easist dance steps ever kick in at about the 2 minute 40 seconds point Arthur Chappell
In 1983, Billy Joel released his album An Innocent Man, an album that traces Joel's musical history through his teenage years in the late '50s and early '60s...

Well, at least you can do one dance. Do you 'request' this when you go out - or play it on the jukebox? Do they even still have jukeboxes?

not being good at dancing never stops me dancing - many pubs still have juke boxes but few dance to juke box tunes though this song often plays at weddings, parties, etc - not a song I ever requested @JudyEv

I remember that video very well. Way back in the 80's. Wow. That is a long time ago now. Yes, I am no dancer either. I fall all over myself. LOL. But I can see how Uptown Girl is an easy dance.

Sound like it is an easy dance to learn,I have never had a dance so far.The funny thing is that the lady thought those customers were making a fool of you then.

The presence of Christie Brinkley is what makes that video.

Interesting. I would have never thought of trying to dance to this. I'll have to start listening to it in that manner.
