Chip, My Computer

I've given my computer a name as of yesterday. Why? He has a chip on his shoulder, that is if computers have shoulders. Chip is very spoiled, and I'm not the one who spoiled him as Chip is a used computer. Chip doesn't like being left alone unattended. He wants attention at all times, especially if he's on. Yesterday I ignored Chip all day. I was gone to get my dentures. And then when I got back I had the audacity to charge my camera because the battery was low, and I had to leave Chip on while I was gone yet again, that time to Writer's Guild. There is no reason why Chip should not have worked properly when I got home, but Chip wasn't happy about being left alone and he let me know it by not operating at peak performance. So I had to give Chip a time out last night by shutting him down and not getting back until this morning. I will be leaving again in a short while for my housing appointment. I really hope Chip will behave when I get back as I have a lot of catching up to do from yesterday. Is your computer spoiled and you need to keep it happy or it won't work for you? Thanks for reading.

You are too funny. I hope Chip behaves for you. My computers have been wondering why I have abandoned them lately.

You've had a lot going on, so I'm sure they understand. I had to give Chip another time out yesterday as he still wasn't happy for leaving him alone yesterday, even if it wasn't for nearly as long as the day before.

@just4him I hope his punishment was enough to make him behave! Bad Chip.

@DianneN He's been good since. He's even started to mess with me, but then he thinks better of it and starts behaving. He knows who his master or mistress is.

Yes, he's been naughty, yesterday too. He just doesn't like being left alone. So didn't get as much done as I wanted to yesterday. Today, I've already been out, so I won't be going anywhere for the duration of the day, so hopefully I'll be able to get everything caught up here.

Computers love new upgrades. Yours should behave for awhile now. Until it wants another new "toy".

Sometimes I think my computer is tempermental and doesn't want to work properly. Good luck with your housing appointment.

No he doesn't. On the other hand, I've gotten a lot of Netflix time in with Beauty and the Beast. I'm now in season 2. Hopefully Chip will behave today as I have so many notifications to catch up on.

When we got our very first computers at work (a hundred years ago!), I finally came to an uneasy truce with mine. I named him Damian (after the devil child in the movies.) He basically agreed to give me most of what I needed and I agreed not to chunk him in Gardner's Creek. Hope Chip is learning to behave. Keep up the tough love.

Sometimes it takes drastic measures to get your computer to give you what you need and work with you not against you.

Moody is the word I would use. Nobody likes neglect, though. If my computer gets TOO moody, I give it a swift kick in the azz...a cold reboot.

I've tried the reboots, it didn't work. So I need to give Chip a time out. It's the only thing that seems to work with him.

He loves you. I'm glad you have a new computer. Windows XP was quite a while ago. You needed an upgrade.

Yes he is! I wonder if he knows I'm trading him in for a newer model because his behavior is so bad.

If you can create a chip on the other shoulder, he'll be a well-balanced computer again.

I'll see what I can do. Though I need to get the chip off this one and it should be balanced again as well.

Chip must have a lot of friends who are a bad influence on him. We need to put the fear of God into them so they will behave.
