Fixed the light by myself

We have three lights in our living room that have pull chains. Within a few months two of the chains broke.
I took one apart yesterday and saw what part needed to be replaced.
I stopped at Lowe's today and bought two of the pieces I needed for about $5 each.
I thought it would be easier to fix then it was. I struggled for about 5 minutes but finally got it fixed and it works. I am so proud of myself. I almost had a breakdown BUT I didn't!

You should really be proud of you. I have two brothers but the two of them are useless in that kind of thing. So it was actually me who did all the kinds of fixing at home.

I think I remember that from years ago you writing about them being useless and you fixing the electronics!

There is no greater satisfaction than a job that you complete by yourself.

@shaggin good thing you didn't! I was on the same boat not a light fixture but I was determined to edit an image with using a tutorial on YouTube and I kept getting it wrong.. I was about to give up but I kept trying and succeeded!
Don't give up :) take a break and try again!

I am proud of myself being able to fix it. My father put on a new doorknob in my daughters rooms for me today.

Our light chains always want to get sucked up in the light covering. When they do, I'm too lazy to fiddle with all the pieces and fix it, so the fans get permanently stuck on high.
Hubby keeps fixing them but they get sucked back up just about as quickly as they're fixed.
I recently learned how to work our weed-eater. It's a great feeling when you figure out how to do something new!

Well at least the fan will still work. Being on high would cool the room down faster.
I remember using my dads weed eater the first time. It is gas powered so the end was so heavy. I could not pull the chain to start it while holding it. I had to put it on the ground and step on it while I yanked it. This was a long sweaty process of trying to figure it out. I finally got it started and was so happy and then realized it was out of string. I cried at that point lol. After that I bought myself an electric one with an on and off switch!

Ours is battery-powered. It lasts about 10 or 15 minutes before it peters out. I'd love to get an electric one, but we're dealing with what we have because the landlord gave it to us. Can't beat a freebie!
It's still a tad heavy, though. I came in yesterday after using it and my arms felt weak.
I gotta get stronger!

@Genipher Ahh yes I can imagine the battery in it is quite large and would still be pretty heavy. Using that will make your arms stronger!! I agree I always enjoy a good freebie. I use things until they is absolutely no life left in them before I throw them away. People send way to much to the landfills just because they want newer and better things all the time.
