I just found out it's World Wide Knit in Public Day today, on 18 June 2016. It's actually on second Saturday of June each year. This day started in 2005 by Danielle Landes. It sounds fun to gather and knit together with others. I have never knit in public with others before. I wonder if there is any event hosted near my place. I hope I will be able to join one day later, perhaps together with my children too. Have you joined any knit in public event? You can find more about this World Wide Knit in Public Day here:
World Wide Knit in Public Day! – Better living through stitching together! WWKIP Day is unique, in that it’s the largest knitter run event in the world. Each local event is put together by a volunteer or a group of volunteers. The date this year is Saturda

I don't knit but I've seen some people knit especially at hospitals!

That's nice. Why do the people knit in hospitals? Do you mean the patients or people who are waiting?

@kaka135 Both patients and people. I guess to pass by time.

This is a new festival I heard. I am interested in knitting, however, I don't know how to knit at all. My mom is very good at it and she made not only my sweaters but also my son's. When I have a grand child one day, I can only go to buy the sweater rather than knitting in person

Perhaps you will learn how to knit and can knit a nice sweater when you become a grandmom. I never thought I could knit too.

@kaka135 When I will be the grandma, perhaps I will have more spare time on painting

My daughter is the knitting person. She probably would knit in public.

Yes, I think it would be fun, but I am not sure if there is any here, as knitting is not a popular activity in my country.

Haven't heard of this day being celebrated here. I was in a waiting room once and there was a box of wool and needles and people could knit while they waited for their appointment. The idea was to knit as a little or a lot to make squares for blankets for the needy.

That's really a good idea! So, anyone can just knit the squares there, and someone will collect them and make blankets? I like to bring my crocheting or knitting project with me if I have to wait too, instead of bringing a book, though sometimes I bring both, as I can still talk to my children while crocheting or knitting.

@kaka135 Yes. I helped someone get started as she hadn't knitted for years. Someone will sew the squares into blankets when there is enough. I always used to take my crocheting everywhere but I haven't been doing much lately.

It's okay. I think it's a good event for those who knit or perhaps it'll also attract some people to learn how to knit as well.
