Skip Bayless is gone from ESPN. Do I hear cheers?

For many years Skip Bayless has been the infuriating host of ESPN's First Take debate show. I say he's infuriating because the opinions he expresses are often off the wall. On the show Bayless and sidekick Stephen A. Smith engaged in vigorous "debate" in which the more outrageous the opinion, the better.
But now Bayless is leaving ESPN for Fox Sports. Yesterday was his tearful farewell to the show. I can't say I'm particularly tearful. Since I don't watch much on the Fox Sports channel, I probably won't see a lot of Skip Bayless in the future. I don't think I'll be missing much.

I think you're right on both counts. There's certainly no lack of ego on those shows!

Squeaky wheels get the grease. It works for Bill O'Reilly on his Fox News show The O'Reilly Factor.

If I recall Skip Bayless always goes counter to generate controversy. I only watch ESPN when they have NBA playoff games or when the Dodgers are on the game of the week.

I agree about Bayless wanting to generate controversy. I guess that's what makes that kind of show interesting to people.

I just watch ESPN First Fake to make fun of them on my Wordgirl rants on Devianart. I will miss Skip like Superman needs to be exposed to Kryptonite.

@Deepizzaguy I remember the Honeymooners. It and the Jackie Gleason show were a couple of my parents' favorites shows.

Skip reminds me of the late Jackie Gleason on the Honeymooners "I've got a big mouth."

My memories of Skip Bayless is that in the movie "Rocky Balboa" he called Rocky "an overrated boxer" and he called the U S Women's Gym team that won the silver medal in the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens a bunch of "chokers". I will miss Skip on First Fake I mean First Take like Superman needs Kryptonite. Oh happy day. I can sleep easier now.

I use to watch ESPN when they had actual sports reporting. But the past 5-10 years they have become a joke with their commentators debating. Unless it's a football game or tennis match I don't watch it. I'm glad to see he's gone. Like you I don't watch Fox Sports so that won't make my viewing habits change. Have a blessed day

ESPN just ticks me off with their insults of the New York Yankees and their demonic rap music on their shows. They make Panamanian television stations like R P C and T V N look like a conservative news station by comparison.
