In or Out Day

Today is the one where the British people decide their future. For many of us who live abroad there was no opportunity to vote, although we are very concerned about the EU question. Anyone who has not lived in the UK for the past 15 years was disqualified.. We have only been out of the UK for 10 years so we were in.
I voted with my head, but I know many people voted with their hearts because all the discussions for and against only made the waters muddier.
If the people who lead the country can be so convincing in both directions it is no wonder that there were so many undecided voters right up to the last minute.

You were right on the ball with that prediction crazyhorseladycx the country is split down the middle, the pound has fallen with a resounding crash and the United Kingdom is united anymore.

@41CombedaleRoad seems to've turned the entire world'n its ear, 's most events'f this nature tend to do. yepperz, they're split, but i've heard that parliament can veto such'n act. not that such'd mend the rift'n the u.k. 'mong its people. these're such tryin' times globally :(

I am curious how it will turn out as well and how it will affect the world economy. While the polls are very tight, I read that the English bookies are betting on staying in.

Unfortunately they were wrong, and they are no longer the only ones losing money! Those of us who live abroad and have to convert English pounds into euros have been hit already.

@41CombedaleRoad They have created a real mess with this vote. The effects will be hard to deal with.

@41CombedaleRoad I´m sure the politicians and the economists knew. But they probably did not tell the citizens.

With hindsight 'interesting' is something of an understatement. We are 'gobsmacked' in the UK.!

I want to get out of the EU.
To be honest I don't think anyone who isn't a permanent resident of the UK should be able to vote.

I disagree, residing abroad does not make us aliens to our own country and we are affected very much by what happens with the EU. Pensions come from England, medical expenses come from England, all of which have been paid for during a lifetime of living there. We came here because it worked when England joined the EU, if the UK changes its mind and leaves we will feel a little betrayed.

Last we checked an hour or two ago it looked as though the 'leaves' might have been winning.
