G-strings or...what?

I'm sort of curious. Can anyone tell me why people wear a g-string? I mean, what's the point? Why bother to wear anything at all for all the good a g-string does? They also look and feel very uncomfortable.
Someone please enlighten me.

there's nothing more uncomfortable than big wedge of knickers up your rear end!

@Drosophila I'm sorry you experienced the rear knicker bunching wedge, I haven't had that experience myself as my clothes tend to be a proper fit - neither too tight or too loose.

I wear a g string when I'm wearing tight pants not jeans because or else my panty lines would show and it doesn't look good when people are staring at your behind. An alternative is wearing a seamless underwear. I also wear g-strings to feel sexy! Not for anybody else but for me.
They are not uncomfortable. Not sure if men could say the same thing.
I don't wear g-string bathing suits though.

I guess folks don't want their panty lines to show through whatever they are wearing. And I used to think about those kinds of things and wear them too. But I've personally never found them to be comfortable - so I don't even bother these days. They have those seamless ones that don't show through - I much prefer being covered

I used to wear them my friend, but now I would die of uncomfortableness lolz
I used to wear them because they were light and airy lets just put it that way.

Same as @toniganzon. I wear a g-string when I do not want that my panty lines show under a tight dress or tight pants. They are not uncomfortable at all.

I don't believe it either. I was looking at a gallery off photos of Catherine and many of them showed her bare bottom when the wind blew her skirts up. Some may find that titillating but I was embarrassed for her and was prompted to make this discussion.
