Many times, it is not quality but quantity!

Look at the photo. The quality of steps are bad, but it will take us to the top! So, unfortunately, in many cases, it is the quantity of work and not the quality that matters. I have heard people saying that " it is 95% of hard work and 5% of intelligence required to get PhD these days" So, we have to be prepared for working also, rather than trying to use our intelligence only. photo credit: pixabay.

It also means a lot of money needed. Many parents are not prepared for their children to go beyond basic degree. If their children want to study Master, and then PhD, they will have to save the money by working for a number of years or they have to win a scholarship.

Going by the Pareto principle or 20/80 rule where only 20% knowledge is required to do 80% of most work, you might be right. As for the usefulness of a PhD these days, do you know there are over 5000 janitors in the US with a PhD?
