I am a person who likes self-help books because they give useful tips. As the years go by, it became lesser and lesser to seek for these books. Time constraint is the reason and I usually look answers to Mr. Google. He can answer everything. Moreover, myLotters posts can bring more realization about certain dilemmas in life. They can share their sentiments, ideas and thoughts about certain things. The reason, the advice coming from them is based on their experiences in life. I can learn and earned wisdom of knowing in the reality of life. I am grateful that myLot had been created. It is not always about the money getting from this site. Since I can work hard to earn it. Self help books can help you the same as a book on cooking and interior design can. If your'e not gonna apply what you read and keep it in your mind then what use is a cooking book if you don't cook or apply your'e knowledge. :)

@Shavkat of course you have to take what you find online with a grain of salt. At least a published book has a bit of credibility.

I accumulated a lot of self-help books over the years but I gave away nearly all of them. At my age there seems little point in keeping them all.

I think you have all the wisdoms to share here. It is fine to let them go since we can apply in reality.

Well said. I admit my first and foremost purpose of joining mylot was that of earning money but now I am slowly and steadily realizing how homely this forum is and I too am thankful for being a part of it. I've learned a lot in a few days here and hope to learn more.
