This coming week and the next week I interview surgeons about having my wisdom teeth removed. My dentist in gung ho about me seeing the best surgeon in the city - a male doctor. I do very badly with male doctors though and don't feel very comfortable with the idea. I'll be going to meet him in two weeks.
On my own, I set up a meeting this coming week with the only female oral surgeon in the city. Because of some history in my past, I think I'd feel a million times better working with a female. In two weeks though, I will have met them both and will be able to make up my mind. Then, whenever I decide to have the surgery I will know who I want doing it.
Of course, my dentist wants me to have the surgery RIGHT NOW! It took a bit but I've realized there is no need to do anything right now. The next few months of my life are jam packed with trips, obligations, and my god daughter's birth...there is no time to set aside for surgery!
I'm also not in a good enough mental state to handle surgery right now. I'm afraid I'd set a surgery date and the anxiety as it approached would cause me to try and hurt myself, honestly. I'm not even approaching the idea of scheduling surgery until I've been 4 months without a hospitalization.
I'm sure I'm going to get pressure to do otherwise but I'm going to stand my ground. I have to look out for my overall health. My teeth won't be a worry at all if I'm dead because of stress.

If it is necessary for you to have a surgery, maybe it's better to schedule it soonest to avoid extending your agony of thinking the pain it cause. Just my thoughts

@Lolaze don't be afraid. Be strong. Just think it's just a surgery and nothing to be afraid of.

My dentist would like me to think it's necessary ASAP. After thinking about it for some time, I've realized I can put it off until whenever I'm ready - the teeth aren't going to be going anywhere!

It's not always easy going through these sort of surgery. I can understand not wanting to do right away and waiting a little, but I do understand your dentist wanting to do it sooner rather than later. But at the end of the day, you have to do what you feel is right. Go with what your gut feeling tells you.
