"I don't want my work ethic to be misrepresented."

Have you ever had occasion where you had to say these words or similar words? I found myself saying these words last night when talking to the manager that is OVER the manager of our department. That is, he is my boss's main boss. So technically he's my boss.. but ya know, he's not bossy... Anyway... I knew that said boss would be in last night and so took that opportunity to express some grievances about my direct supervisor. I spoke to this boss about how I felt and what I wished to accomplish. I even said that I felt uncomfortable talking about my manager but that it needed to be done. One of the last things I said was "I don't want my work ethic to be misrepresented." What does that mean exactly? Well for me it means that I do not want the uppers to think that I am not working as hard and efficient as I can. You see, I can't truly trust my direct manager to represent me or my co workers anymore. He, well he hasn't ever really worked hard. Not since he's been our manager. I told my boss's boss this and even gave examples. He (if he so chooses) can even go back and look at the camera's and see that I am telling the truth. I told him of a truck night where my manager litterally took everything off of a well organized pallet and put it on a cart INSTEAD of taking the pallet to the floor. He made more work for himself by doing this. Of course this also made him look busier. I told the boss's boss this and that the pallet he was taking things from was so well organized as is. I should know, I'm the one that breaks down the trucks. I was mighty impressed with how well it was organized that night as well... So yeah I was a little peeved when he took everything off to work it instead of taking the pallet to the floor as is. Oh, and he tried to give the excuse that he "didn't want to bother anyone to get a pallet jack." Uh.... There was one that NO ONE was using. Ugh.. Anyway, to make a long story short... I hope that my days of complaining about work here will come to an end.. I am hoping that there will be some changes made. I will no longer let my work ethic be misrepresented, and I won't let my manager get away with only LOOKING busy.

Sounds like it was about time to say something so let's hope that there will be some changes made. Unfortunately there are people in management that are like your boss and shouldn't have that position at all.

Heuse was "bumped" around from store to store before coming here. A few of us want him gone and not just for his work ethic either. He has too many vacation days (which isn't even the problem!) and takes them on the most inconvenient of times. For instance, he seems to always be on vacation during a coupon week. When he came back from said coupon week? He worked two days and then had another day off. The assistant manager had worked 9 straight days and only had one day off before going back to work.

Work ethics is just the way you work, how hard you work, and how willing you are to pitch in and help others.

It is good to get it off your chest from time to time before it gets out of hand and you explode.

I've even told him (the one I have the grievance with) how I feel about the way he does. He didn't seem to like me saying it but he needs to know that the wool has not been pulled over my eyes. But yes, It's better to "Explode" here on mylot than at the work place.

I tend to just do my job and let the chips fall where they may. I have no complaints about my "bosses" where I work right now. At a previous job there was lots of corruption, racism, etc, but nothing was ever done about it.

He must believe in the work ethic of looking busy. I never understood how you can look busy when there is literally nothing to do. I've been in that situation a few times. Now however, I'm retired, and I don't have to 'look busy'. I am busy, from morning to night when I finally go to bed. I am always doing something. Even if that only something is myLot.

Oh but au contraire. There is PLENTY to do he, just makes it look as if what he is doing is the hardest to do. He always does the easiest thing in the hardest way possible. I even used that wording to his boss.
