Losing Marshall

After two bumpy weeks in July, I'm afraid I'm going to have another one, concerning my cat Marshall. For almost a week, he hasn't become himself. I first thought it was the 4th of July weekend fireworks going out outside, but since the weekend ended, I don't think so anymore. He's been hiding underneath the bed and rarely comes out much. He doesn't go outside anymore for fresh air and sun. He haven't been to the litter box in a few days, though I think he ruined the carpet underneath my bed, since I can smell it. He haven't ate much, except when I give him treats. For supper, I have to get him out from the bed and force him to have some wet food. I don't think he has touched his dry food in days. As for water, he haven't had a drink since yesterday morning. Two nights ago, he came to sleep with me on top of my bed for a half-hour and returned back under the bed. He also stayed out for a tiny bit outside the bed and laid in front of the bed frame. He's not active anymore either. This isn't like him at all. I'm hoping to take him to the vet this weekend to have him looked at as soon as I hear from my brother to make an appointment ASAP. I hope they tell me it's an UTI or constipation, and not what I think it is. If it's the former, I hope medication would help save his life. Due to his 16.5 years for his age, I fear he might be dying right in front of my eyes. I'm not prepared to say goodbye to him yet. Prayers needed this week!

That is a very old age for a cat. I do hope you are able to get him to a vet.

-hugs- we face this with Cam. She can't walk on her own more than a few steps, and this hit suddenly, she was fine on the forth, or so we thought, by the evening on the 5th I realized she was turning down treats and watched to find out she wasnt eating either.

Oh no Poor Cam. Marshall's a bit better--he had water, wet and dry food from my fingers and wet food from his bowl. Treats, too. He's been to his box a few times and had fresh air. He did step out a couple of times. I still believe he needs to be at the vet.

@KristenH I'm so happy he doing well, I would if he was still scared of the fireworks for last week. I know he is old and maybe it takes time, to get over these loud noises.

Hope you can get your cat to the vet and it's only something that medication can remedy. Sorry to hear that you might be losing your kitty

You have them. I'm sorry and hope he's going to be all right. 16.5 years is a long life for a cat.

Thanks Valerie. He did come out for a half-hour, went to his litter box twice, had fresh air, and drank water. And then he returned back under the bed. I hope I can get him to eat. Yeah it is. So I hope it's nothing serious.

It could be due to old age. I don't know the life span of a cat.Hope he becomes lively again.

oh no. That's an old age for a cat. It might be his time sadly. It is so sad when we have to let them go. I hope that he just has a UTI.
