Deer

I was driving from one doctor to another with a small detour on the way. I had to drop off the roomie's blood pack. After I did that, I wanted to pick up a drink so I drove up into the very nice neighborhood to get to a store where they normally have my "drug" of choice - diet root beers. As I was driving along the main street I spotted a deer in getting out of the street in front of the next car. When I got up there I saw it was a fawn and it was looking across the street. I looked too and there was its mother. Around here you don't often see deer out in the middle of the day so I was surprised. Would you be surprised to see deer in the middle of the day in you town? Remember, Austin is a big city!

We see deer all the time around here but being we are out in the country somewhat it is to be expected.

And I'm in the 11th largest city in the U.S. - not quite so expected. I never saw deer when I was a kid, but we see them more than sometimes in parts of town.

@ElicBxn For a big town it is not normal to see a deer in town.

@Marcyaz its actually more common to see them now then when I was a kid because its grown so much so fast that the deer and other wild life have had no other places to go

I once found a big cat track - probably a cougar - within 100 feet - about 30 meters - from houses. I was in a wild area that was beginning to be built, but wasn't really even started yet. I'm sure the neighborhood would've been alarmed if they knew it. But that was back in around 1975-76. This deer was probably only a mile or so from where I saw that track.
