Having internet problems
The last few month have been ok internet wise after getting a new modem. Well for some unknown reason my landlady decided to upgrade the internet, I have no idea why apart from it being faster. We were already getting 200MB via cable or I was getting around 20MB on wifi in my room so I couldn’t see the point of upgrading the speed.
There is only me that really uses the internet and I’m not a gamer and no call for high speed.
Well, the new modem came last week, and I can get up to 80mb on wifi in my room, awesome. I have no idea of the speed if you were to put a cable in the modem. Only one draw the wifi isn’t anywhere near as good as the old modem. Over the last week, it’s been hit and miss for me and annoying at the best of times when it doesn’t work.
So today I went out and bought a wifi extender hoping that does the trick and keeps the internet going in my room.

We had to buy a wifi extender here. The wifi extender sits in a bathroom between where the modem is and where my bedroom is. It was actually bought for the niece and nephew who come over and use the internet here when they are here, but I benefit from it too.
I hope that the extender helps out.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I'll let you know if I do have any more problems, seems to be working ok this evening, so much better than the last few days when I couldn't really get on.

@kevin1877uk I hope you won't have some of the same troubles we do here though.
If we have to turn the computer off because of storms? Sometimes the wifi extender takes a bit longer to warm up, or our modem has to be reset. It's probably more the modem than it is the extender though.

It's working great, you just plug it into an electric socket and the connect, it extends the wifi signal strength.

It's just the wifi signal, it not as good as the older one was. I agree why pay for more speed when we don't really need it.

Me too, it seems to be working better tonight than it's done the last few days.

Sounds like the WiFi at work. It is very hit and miss. I asked about it after getting several customer complaints and then having trouble myself. They told me the problem is originating on the providers end. We have to call them to get it fixed each time and it takes them up to three days.

For the moment it seems ok in the living room, although I've not been in there that much. It's also the same the kitchen it drops there too or did until I had the extender.
I'll see what happens over the next few days and then maybe if it's still doing it I time to make that call.

You would wonder why your landlady would make this change. Hope the extender helps.
