Why do you think people hated the Ghostbusters remake?

Ghostbusters is one of the most beloved Scifi fantasy movies back in the 1980's. It got so popular that it gained sequels and it have a Cartoon series in the 90's. I am one of those kids who grew up with that Cartoon series.
Recently, The trailer of the remake got released on Youtube and all it got is hate and anger. It has overwhelming number of dislikes.
I remember the Robocop remake in 2014 turned the female character Anne Lewis into a black guy for diversity reasons. (Why they didnt turn Anne Lewis into a Black woman instead)
This movie turned every single Ghostbuster main character into women and their female sidekick character is turned into a man. The intention of the movie is to make a feminist friendly movie that uses unconventionally beautiful women instead of bombshells.
I am all for female heroes but I prefer original female heroes instead of genderswapped characters. Do you think this remake deserves the hate?

This is the trailer of the original and it has an overwhelming likes. Yeah many people dont want their nostalgia ruined.
I think they should have turned this into a Sequel instead of a remake. You know like they were the daughters of the original heroes.

Ma'am my opinion on this whole thing is in this video:
I don't mind an all female cast, in fact I was kinda looking forward to it until the first trailer came out... And it was awful... It felt that this film was built to fail just so they could say:"Whelp, an all female Ghost Busters didn't work." And get the feeling this trailer will have that same vibe.
FINALLY! I've uploaded this sucker. Yes I made a response to the Ghost Buster's trailer. I'm sorry it's late, but watch and enjoy.

I just watched your video and I finally heard your voice. You just reminded me of "The New Ghostbusters" Which is a Cartoon series that is a continuation of "real Ghostbusters"
The humor of the reboot is so forced and I think the actress Leslie got a stereotype Ghetto angry black woman role. Racial stereotypes is not funny anymore in 2016. I think the trailer shows it is the exact copy of the original only with CGI instead of practical effects,

@Hanyouyomi it is made to fail just like dragonball evolution and Jem and the Holograms live action. When it comes to remakes and adaptations, offending the fanbase is a huge risk that can backfire. I guess producers kept on making these trash because they see Michael Bay is able to getaway with his Transformer movies and Paul Anderson is able to make hits with his Mary Sue Vanity press films Resident evil movies. Those adaptation series makes the fanbase of the source materials rabit and angry but they managed to put butts on the theater seats.
I am now having a bad feeling that a Back to the future remake is coming.
Back to leslie's role. I notice that she seemed to be an actress typecasted for Angry Black women stereotype. If this movie managed to become a hit, Most like it is because of the milenial casuals who are not fans of the original.
Yeah Extreme ghostbusters is marketed as New Ghostbusters here. It also got dubbed despite of the fact we speak English fluently here.
I love my American cartoons in English. I don't mind Anime being dubbed on Tagalog but I found it weird when something in English gets dubbed because I can speak English.

@CaptAlbertWhisker "The New GhostBusters?" Sounds to me like you mean, well to an American like me anyway, "The Extreme GhostBusters." And if it was referred to as "New GhostBusters" in the Phillipines, you're older than I thought... As for Leslie Jones' character. Due to my heavy exposure Richard Pryor, Dave Chapelle, and Aaron McGruder's "The Boondocks," I'm not easily offended by black stereotypes. The problem with this too is, there's an art to making a black character like Lelsie's funny to where other ethnic groups(mostly whites) are laughing with us and not AT us. If these trailers are any indication, Paul Fieg doesn't understand that art.
And I'm not gonna say "which is understandable because he's white," because here's the thing:"Storm, Spawn, Black panther, Falcon, Cyborg of Teen Titans, Blade, WarMachine, Vixen, and Green Lantern John Stewart were all created and have been consistantly written for by white folks! Hell, read James Patterson's "Alex Cross" series some time, he's also a white guy who gets black folks. So Paul Fieg being white is no excuse! He either doesn't get how to make a typical loud black woman inoffensively funny, or he probably did it because he understands that the general movie-going public won't understand the character any other way, or it might be the latter. And if it's the latter... Ooooh I'd be so done with this film and him.
And actually the effects were done with a mixture of makeup, practical effects and CGI... But that doesn't take away from the fact that it comes off as a poor modermized remake of the original...
Which bugs me, because as I stated in the video you watched, "It's almost like this was made to fail."

that is the reason why they don't like the new Ghostbusters. Why don't they just make a different spin rather than changing the characters.

That is the spin they can think off, turn them into unsexy women that will make feminists from tumblr happy

@CaptAlbertWhisker there are so many ideas that may come to. Many remakes now don't do well in tickets.

@ilocosboy If this is a sequel instead of a remake, the reaction might be better. They could be daughters or younger sisters of the original heroes.
