A debugging program of a different type

We have been here three years and it was just a few weeks ago we had a little ant issue around the kitchen sink. I think they were looking for water...they found it - I drowned them, we sprayed and put out traps. We've been ant-less since then. We went to the grocery store this morning and after putting thing away I jumped on the computer. My husband was in the kitchen when all of a sudden I heard 'words' that I can't use on this site LOL! I went to check and the pantry had been invaded by those tiny ants. They were scurrying around on two shelves out of five. My husband sprayed the outside of the cabinet and on top of it since we saw a line of them heading straight up. Not long after we moved everything out - started sucking them up with the vac. -then another good dose of spray. We had to find what was attracting them and eventually I did. The pancake syrup has one of those flip up lids.....we had pancakes a few weeks ago. I didn't snap the lid shut all the way and inside of that bottle were hundreds of ants on a sugar high to end all sugar highs. After a hour or so of checking any and all open packages and tossing out some out of date stuff, the pantry has been thoroughly cleaned and de-bugged. Everything but the ants is happily back in the pantry. We left a few ant traps in there just in case. I keep checking and see no movement in the pantry - thank goodness our debugging worked. Did you pick the ants out of the syrup one by one so you could use it again? Heh. I'd be tempted to, if it was real maple. If you heat it up, will the ants rise to the top? Or sink to the bottom? Never mind. I must have had too much coffee.

We had ants come in the front door of an apartment I used to live in, and travel all the way across the front room and through the one bedroom into the kitchen. I heard that used coffee grounds worked so I put some down where they were coming in. It worked almost immediately.

We don't know where they are coming into the house - I am 'assuming' thru the basement.

Poor little ants. All they wanted was something to eat.

Some ants are really tiny aren't they? They can also be difficult to get rid of. Hope yours have gone for good.

We have ants when the weather is hot - to be honest they don't bother me that much as they stay on the floor and for some reason don't climb up onto the work surfaces

If they are on the floor they can find their way up....

We have had that problem for the past 3 or 4 Seasons with those tiny sugar ants in the kitchen. We have sprayed mainly in the kitchen, until my husband got an idea to spray all around the outside of the house and some inside (but more outside), and luckily this Season we have not had a problem. I hope I am not talking too soon!

I had an ant problem last summer and they were coming in by my sliding glass door to the deck. They found their way up onto my counter and were heading to the kitchen sink. I also sucked them up with my vacuum and put baking soda on the floor where they were coming in and it did the trick. So far this summer no ants but keeping my fingers crossed. They certainly are pesky little things and I can't believe they found their way into your pantry and indulging on your pancake syrup, Good thing you didn't have pancakes and get a huge surprise when you poured ants all over your breakfast
