Waiting to Load

I was gone all morning shopping, then we got home, put things away and I made a quick meal. So I have not done my regular stuff online. On one site I play a ten point game. It does not load well, and it is just a pointless flash game. If I shut everything down except it, the results are much faster but I get bored waiting to load. So today I decided while I waited to clean and tidy desk drawers. It was great. I got two little ones finished. The desk drawers frequently become my catch alls. I once read an expert who said she cleaned out one drawer or closet every day and that is how she kept organized. It seems like quite a good plan. Do you do that? I admit I have not in the past, but I believe it will be addictive.

Cleaning and decluttering really is best done little bits at a time, but yes, every single day. That's how I moved out of my house. And that's how I keep things neat and orderly here. It doesn't take long for that to become a very good habit!

I was decluttering my big filing cabinet and I am glad that it is done now. What a pain in the neck.

@marlina Papers are the biggest problems in the world of clutter. I have a rather large bin of paperwork and I have a smaller box all ready. I'm going to begin going through that large bin and taking out all paperwork pertaining to the house I just moved out of. I'll store them in the box for a year or so, until I know for sure that I won't be needing them anymore. I have room in my closet for the box and the bin will have a lot of space freed up for my day-to-day paperwork. Staying on top of mail as it comes in is a huge priority for me. I don't need that clutter starting up again! lol Congratulations for getting that big job done! You did great!

I like to go through filing cabinets the week of the New Years, or while hubby does taxes. It feels like such a fresh start.

I just organize as I go. No need to re-do it every day. I guess being organized can become addictive, sort of like hoarding does.

I am not redoing anything that I have done in the past. i think that is why I am enjoying it.

@GardenGerty ....If it doesn't cause you problems then I wouldn't worry about it.

I've been sitting here cleaning up stuff off of my desk, tv tray, and the floor around me while I work online. Next is the couch next to me.

I am running back and forth to the kitchen and laundry to turn on a/c and get a nap. I think I have cleaned more in the last week than in the previous month.

No I'm afraid I don't - my drawers could do with some serious de-cluttering, but i can never be bothered.

I am motivated by some treasures I have found hiding there.

I sometimes tidy/clean out a drawer while I'm waiting for something else. It is a good idea and does help keep junk in check.

It is always nice to feel we are using our waiting time productively.

I have cleaned the living room divider drawers where the cutleries were and I supposed it was not clean for almost 2 years. The time where I was not here in my house in the Philippines but in my home in Germany.

Before moving here last year I had been in my other house over thirty years and found lots of mysteries in the drawers.

I live in one big room so not much to sort out but I move the beanie babies so the housekeeping aides can dust.

When pages do not load I play some card game until they get loaded. I have many card games on my desktop.

It surely is nice to have something else to do while we wait.

I have not done that. I usually clean when I'm on the phone so my focus is on talking and not cleaning so much. Makes it easier.

I really dislike being on the phone, so that would not work for me. I have found some missing things today and that is excitine.

I am telling myself it only takes a tiny effort at a time to accomplish a big improvement.

That is definitely one way to do it, cleaning out one drawer or closet a day. I've never thought of doing it that way.

I think it feels really good. I have a different chore calling me today and it will only take a minute to have it done.

@GardenGerty so far today I have washed 2 loads of laundry, waiting on second to dry, then need to put three loads away. I have gone to both the vet and the store. Groceries are put up. I unloaded the dishwasher and reloaded with the few dirty dishes. I need to prep dinner too, that will prob be all I do today

I did it for quite a while. Maybe not every single day, but almost. And not necessarily a drawer or shelf, but sometimes a box from the shed. I would say after moving from my house to my husband's and storing a lot of stuff in boxes in the shed and having every shelf and drawer in the house Stuffed! - that it took me a year to handle every item we owned. Then as I came back to boxes/shelves/drawers after a year, I realized finally that I had too much stuff to organize and started to gradually make decisions to let things go. We have been in this house 5 years now. I need to start doing that again.

I have a shed full of stuff as well. Hubby and I need to get busy to convert it to a workshop. It is too hot to do that for the next month or two though.
