Sleeping at the Wheel

Do you ever fall asleep while driving? It's one of the most dangerous things to do. Keeping alert while driving when you are sleep deprived can fail miserably. You need to take breaks. Ask someone else to drive. Roll down the windows. Listen to music. Just stay focused and awake. When the eyes go blank, you just might hit a tank. (Or some other object)

Only one time was it getting difficult to stay awake and I was splashing cold water on my face. I was so close to home and made it. Had it been a longer haul, I would have stopped.

It is scary when you feel tired. You really just want to close your eyes and dose.

The other day. I read a news about a driver fall asleep and hit people. It was awful coz you should not be driving if you are tired.

This happens particularly for someone who is on the road for a long time and doesn't take a break.

I never drive if I'm tired as I tend to zone alot. If I'm tired and need to go somewhere I will have my boyfriend drive or anyone else that I'm with. If it's just me i'll take a nap before going anywhere so I'm not exhausted behind the wheel.

We take it in turns to drive while the other has a nap. I'm not very good at sleeping as a passenger but my husband is. As soon as he's had a bit of a sleep he takes over driving again.

I did once. I was on the M5 heading to Cornwall and fell asleep...woke up scraping along the barrier in the central reservation between the carriageways...still got the scrapes on my car now
