A Tin Full of Chocolates - Not!

Last night we went to a Murder Mystery Christmas in July night and had a riotous time. We had to write down who we thought did it and which table we thought had participated the most. You couldn't vote for your own table.
Our table got the prize for 'audience participation' which was a surprise but a very nice one. We were each given a small tin of chocolates in a Christmas tin and some bath salts.
It was really nice to receive a gift but my beef is with the manufacturers of the tin. As you can see from the photo, the tin isn't even half full. There are actually only eight chocolates in a sealed packet. This seems to be really short-changing the purchaser but it happens all the time, especially with confectionery it seems.

The chocolates were in a sealed packet in the tin and the tin was sealed with tape too. I would hate to buy the tin as a gift and give it to someone only to find out later that there was barely anything in it. I don't think it is fair to do that. I only hope they didn't pay a lot for the tin thinking it was full of chocolates.

And I counted wrong - it was only six. We got a tin each and I've put all 12 in one tin and it's STILL not full.

I would love to attend to something like this.
Too bad the prizes didn't measure up.

@JudyEv so true.
Reminds me of those that local vendors that sell strawberries by the basket. You'd think that the basket is full of strawberries only to realize that the rest of the basket is only filled with crumpled newspapers.
What a disappointment!

6 pieces is terrible. does it say anywhere in the tin how many there should be, or on their website?
but if the others also got 6 pieces, maybe the company should pack them in smaller containers.

It wasn't good. I suppose I should have told the organiser but I didn't.

I think it is a rip-off for whoever bought the tin - in good faith - expecting it to be full. I looked on the tin because I seriously thought about trying to complain to the manufacturer but the website is therejectshop.com so there probably isn't any point.

@toniganzon It's more the fact that it is misleading and a rip-off.

Sounds like lots of fun but I have to agree that's a little lean on the goodies.

@JudyEv I would have gotten the impression that the machine loading the chocolates screwed up and this one got past quality control.

@koopharper Except that we got one each and there is the same in each. I'll check with the frients who were at the same table and see how many they got. It's not the fact that I didn't get many goodies. I just think it is really bad that a tin should have so few in it. It's the same with some other products too. Jars or packets may be only half full but your expectation is that you're buying a full jar or packet.

OOOhhh i'm glad you enjoyed it ... i've been to one of them... they are fun ... as for you prize ... that's a bit cheap on the manufacturers side... they seem to put prices up... but reduce packaging and fillings... and could be a little disappointing to the recipient...

It's just a sign of the times I think. But certainly disappointing. The trouble is it's hard to complain to anyone and you don't know about the sparsity till you open the tin and if it's a gift you're not going to take it up so manufacturers continually get away with it.

Thanks. I was tempted to tell the organiser ( she is a friend) but in the end I didn't. I wouldn't want to be handing out 'old' chocolates if I was doing the organising.

OH yes they are very guilty of that. They put the price up and make the chocolates smaller. A bit of a rip off sometimes. Glad you had a great time though!

Why was it only half full? Maybe the seller thinks the buyer could be interested on the tin container only; to reuse it.
