I have an exercise mat its been awhile since I've used it. But my daughter do more exercises that needs a mat to do them. Now the mat is useful for awhile again. It sure makes me feel that I have to go back to my stretching exercise I was doing before. No I don't have any pounds to lose, but to get in shape, I mean, everybody has to get to the point in life, any ages, you need to build muscle mass, to get stronger. Than I hear talking often about cardio is important too. One thing that I have learned is (everybody thinks) that Jogging is great to keep shape, nonsense. If your are not in shape before your jog, it'll help you faster to have a heart attack(diet involved here). If you don't have the best shoes for to absorb the impact that it does to your ankles, it will wear the joint pretty fast. We really have to research well on those things, before you through yourself into it. Just to have the look. Now if you are looking into a sport that helps your lungs the most, it is Cycling ! So lets get ready to be in better shape, but wisely.

I'm planning to do just that. I just signed up with the YWCA on Friday and intend to swim as much as I can. My new swimsuit arrives in a few days. Then it's pool time for me.

@beenice2 Thank you. I know it will be a good work out and I might not be able to swim for long to start with, but it will be good in the long run.

The one thing I do know is that walking is the best for us to do. And riding a bike. Over exerting ourselves is not a good thing. Especially the older we get.

When you reach the 40 ,45, 50 years of age your muscles are changing.

@inertia4 We are made to be active. The body can deteriorate really fast when too little movements are done in a day.

When you start to do any kind of exercise it's always best to be careful and not to over do it, take it easy and build up slowly.

I will try that, but first it is to take the day to do it.

@beenice2 You are welcome, take it slow and build is the best way, saves from getting injured doing too much. Over the years when I was running, I would see people doing too much (I'll do an extra few miles, it won't hurt) then they become injury and can't run

@kevin1877uk It becomes more of a frustration than ,when you get some injuries.

yes. Cycling is the best exercise. But, one should do it according to one's own stamina and strength of the joints. Too much is not good always.

No I know if you wipe yourself out, any exercise will not help.
