Ya learn somethin' new every day

I was cruising my email and I discovered something I had always wondered about. Turns out that artificial grape flavor isn't made from the kind of grapes you normally eat. My roomie, for example, loves 'real' grapes, but hates all the artificial grape flavored anything. My sister, on the other hand, can't get enough of grape flavored anything. Here is the exact quote that I learned this from: "In other cases, the artificial flavor might not capture the essence of the flavor you expect. Grape flavoring is a classic example here. Artificial grape flavor tastes nothing like grapes you eat, but the reason is because that molecule comes from Concord grapes, not table grapes, so it's not the taste most people are used to eating." I'd give you the link, it is on About: but I can't find a specific page just for it and not for what I was looking at before (Thinks you should not microwave...) Personally, I'm sort of not real thrilled with grapes, period, but I am allergic to them, so you can sort of understand that - right? My favorite is lime. I love lime. Nothing made me as angry as when Life Savers replaced lime in their 5 flavors. Actually, the ONLY one they didn't replace is the one I hated from the beginning - pineapple! Now the whole roll is just - YUK! Ah well, color me green, I must be an alien...

I like all grapes, but especially concord grapes. I like the grape juice and the jelly made from them.

I'm not real thrilled with grapes, probably when they started giving me headaches, seems that I stopped liking grapes about the same time I started having food allergy reactions - but didn't know that's what they were. Corn is my worst reaction, but I avoided grapes for years because I knew if I ate them, they'd give me a headache. Not so much now, and I can eat raisins pretty safely, but it took years before I could.

I love natural grapes and juice also. But there are chances of fake one also.

I think that chance is somewhat less here in the States. We do have laws that hit companies pretty hard if they fake things, and if people find out that something is not labeled correctly, well, they stop trusting the entire company...

@ElicBxn That is good. Pesticides are too much in some grapes

l like concord grapes and t he real juice is so good rich fantatic flavor but why must grape juice have artificial flavors why not let it taste like the crapes it comes from? I love a variety of grapes but in the natural flavor they come in just o ff the vine.

You got me. I really don't care for artificial grape flavored drinks and the like. Real grapes, those can be okay, but I've gotten so that I don't want to eat them because of my years of reactions to them.
