Extraordinary and Selfless Love

I have always been wondering if my dad was able to attain all his dreams in life before he died. He was a very quiet man and not showy when it comes to his feelings. On the other hand, my mom is his opposite. She loves to say "I love you" and she loves to embrace and kiss us. There was a time I asked my mom what was her dream and she told me that she wanted to be a dressmaker. When I asked her why, she told me that her mom told her that if someone asks her what is her dream, she just have to answer that she wants to be a dressmaker. But when I asked her what was her dream really is for herself, she could not answer me. And now, her dream is for us her children to have a good house. She managed my money and I told her she can do anything she wants on it. All I want is for my mom to be happy and not have any regrets in her life. I do wonder if she has regrets. I have realized that when you love someone, you tend to forget yourself in the long run. I wonder if my parents have done something for their own self. All my life, I have seen them always thinking of us. Such a selfless and extraordinary love. And right now, I am feeling very blessed that I have parents like them. Have you felt the same way with yours or with any person you are with now?

My late husband was like that. I still miss him after over 16 years.

It is a true love then. You did not look for another one when he passed away.

You have wonderful parents. I hope your father did see his dreams fulfilled. But I have a feeling his dreams were bound up in his children's happiness. I have never felt that selfless love you have with your parents. It must be a great blessing.

I hope so too. If our parents have a big love for us, then how much more of our Father God above.

it is quite natural and it is the greatness of parents. Unfortunately, we Indians talk more of ethical values, traditions, customs, procedures, God, Philosophy, love , affections, charities, sympathy blah...blah...blah...but we are the first to send the parents out of their own house after getting married. Nasty culture and nasty people..Nowadays, I do not know I am developing a kind of hatred towards these people. I even search for nasty words in the Dictionary to use against them...but can not use them as my education is always coming in the way.

It's good that you can see the love that your parents are giving you. You should be thankful for having them.

Parents' love for their children is selfless. They sacrifice a lot of things to keep their children happy and to fulfill their dreams. I am blessed with loving and kind parents and a very caring spouse.

Sounds like there is nothing more to ask for.
