Did you teach your children nursery rhymes. All mine loved nursery rhymes. I repeated them to the kids from the time they were babies. This was kind of funny, but sad too. My grandson was about four years old and I repeated this one.
Tom, Tom the pipers son stole a pig and away he run.
the pig was eat and Tom was beat and Tom ran crying down the street.
My little grandson started crying his eyes out. I picked him up and asked him what was the matter. Between all his tears he said. I don't want my uncle Tommy to be beat. I told him it was just a rhyme and his uncle Tommy wouldn't be beaten. We call my son Tommy and my grandson thought I was talking about him. Grandson soon learned the rhyme and ran around repeating it himself. He thought it was a blast.
What were your children and grandchildrens favorite nursery rhymes, or did they like them at all?

I'm sure my kids did learn nursery rhymes, we probably had a book or two lying around the house. I didn't go out of my way to teach the kids them, though. I was more concerned about them learning to obey and learn to trust God and talk to him as they got older.

@RubyHawk Some of them are quite fun to read and to sing. I don't know that i agree that all of them should be introduced to children, but then i wasn't asked by those particular publishers.

@MarshaMusselman Neither was I, but I don't remember any that would be bad for children. Maybe I've forgotten.

@crazyhorseladycx That's many a mile to sing. I'm surprised you had a voice left.

I love how literal children are it is so cute. I read to my children since the day they were born some books had nursery rhymes but since we read so many different books they didn't really learn any word for word. My sister knew every nursery rhyme as she repeatedly wanted a mother goose nursery rhyme book read to her.

That's so funny about your grandson. My son memorized many nursery rhymes when he was young.

So many of it: like Humpty Dumpty . . ., Mary Has a Little Lamb, Twinkle, twinkle Little Star; etc.
