Knee replacement....not successful

My sister was suffering from joint pains. Her knee was giving a lot of pain. The doctor advised her to go for knee-replacement after a series of tests. She underwent surgery. But, unfortunately, it was not successful. She had to be very careful. When asked the doctor for the failure of the surgery he replied that it all depends upon the body constitution of the patient. Of course, he told her about it in the beginning itself. She is not having pain now but can not walk briskly and should be careful in climbing the steps. But, in the case of my elder brother-in-law it was a great success.
In most of the cases, it is not becoming successful.
Is there any alternative for such surgery in your country?

This surgery is quite successful in my country. Here a lot of it depends on whether the patient follows through with the exercises given to them or not. Those that don't bother doing the exercises have more pain and stiffness than those that do what is recommended. My mom had both hips and both knees done and each of her surgeries were quite successful.
If your sister isn't in any more pain, that would be the main thing, I'd think. The pain before surgery can be awful. I haven't been able to walk briskly or climb steps the way that everyone else does for at least ten years now. I'm expecting to have full use of that leg once again after my surgery the beginning of this next year.

I've had a knee replacement and am ready to do my other knee. It took three months of Physical Therapy to get my full mobility back but that is just part of the surgery. I was walking on my new knee within hours of the surgery and walking up and down stairs on day two, day three I was home with a planed exercise program to do daily until my stitches were taken out, then, the physical therapy started 3 days a week for three months plus the home exercises for that time and after. At the end of the three months I went camping with the blessings of my therapy group. The only thing I had to do to go camping was to buy walking sticks and use them on uneven land. And I had to keep doing my home exercises for the next three months. I was 60 when I had the surgery. I also had a really good surgeon, famous for knee replacement. I hope your sister gets some relief from the pain, was she given a training program? My experience was a great success too, I have nofear of having my other knee done ASAP.
