Day 132
Psalm 119:105
Psalm 119:105 NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
106 I have sworn, and I will perform it, that I will keep thy righteous judgments.
107 I am afflicted very much: quicken me, O LORD, according unto thy word.
108 Accept, I beseech thee, the freewill offerings of my mouth, O LORD, and teach me thy judgments.
109 My soul is continually in my hand: yet do I not forget thy law.
110 The wicked have laid a snare for me: yet I erred not from thy precepts.
111 Thy testimonies have I taken as a heritage forever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart.
112 I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes always, even unto the end.
When night falls, we light lamps so we can see, whether they are indoor lamps or outdoor flashlights. We do not want to stumble in the dark or lose our way.
The psalmist considered God’s Word as his light, illuminating the dark places in his soul and bringing understanding. Whenever he read the law, he saw new truths come alive in him, and determined he would follow everything God taught him. He knew he was responsible for what he put in his soul and wanted only God’s laws to guide him. He took God’s Word as his heritage, rejoicing in the promises he found, and for every promise, he vowed to keep God’s laws and statutes to the end of his life.
What brings as much conviction to your life? Does your job, your marriage, your hobbies, your friends, or your charities bring the satisfaction the psalmist felt when he studied God’s Word?
Many people feel empty, like something is missing from their lives. They reach out and become involved in many different organizations, commit to their marriages and families, make the most of every day hoping that something will bring true satisfaction and joy to their lives.
As Christians, we know there is only one thing that can fill the emptiness in our lives, and that is our acceptance of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Until we make that commitment, our lives are dark. We cannot see the road ahead of us. However, as soon as we accept Jesus as our Savior and Lord, a light chases away the darkness, and the love of God fills the void in our lives. Every time we open God’s Word to read and study it, we find new truths that cause us to shout and sing for joy. As we do, we make a firm commitment to follow God’s Word to the end of our lives.
Our lives have meaning for the first time. We have direction, purpose, and resolve to follow wherever God leads us.
Let the Word of God shine on your life today, making the path in front of you clear.
Let’s pray: Father, let your Word guide my life. Illumine the path you have for me so I might see the direction you laid out for me. Give me your purpose, and set my heart on fire for what you have in store for me. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

@just4him Amen. By the way what does NUN mean? Is it the name of the psalmist?

NUN is the heading of this section and I was told it is one of the Hebrew letters of the alphabet.
