Guess What I think that maybe my hospital boss was trying to tell me something. She had been suffering the taunts and jeers of her fellow bosses for enough years now, and I think that all of this razzing had finally gotten under the old gal's skin. About what was it that her buddies were teasing her so? It was me. She and I lived and worked in "the Land of the Techies" - that is, computerized stuff - radiation equipment, computer programs, and all the rest of it. Thus, most of those who worked around us were of the younger sort, mostly in their 20s and 30s. She was probably around the age of 50 - still young enough to learn, but old enough to know better already. I was then 76 years old. As she later explained it to me, her fellow bosses laughed at her for "running an old-age home" instead of a hospital department - meaning that she had agreed to hiring me. One evening at work, my boss came up to me and handed me a little gadget as a present, "from my fellow bosses," she explained. I was not yet aware that they were teasing her about my age all the time, and so I asked her, "Why are they giving me a present?" She muttered something about walking... like maybe I should take a hike... or something like that. Let me tell you, I never turn down a nifty-looking gift. Although I liked the look of this gift, nice and techie-looking, it took me a while to figure out what it was good for - what use to make of it. I still have the thing. I still like the look of it. I have never used it. But, finally, I know what it is all about. Today I made a photo of it and stuck the picture up there on top of this page so that you could scratch your head and puzzle over it.
