Is republishing a book a good idea?

No matter how great of an author you are a few mistakes can still slip from view even if you hire a professional editor to help you spot everything before you publish that book. Hey, even big time authors have mistakes in their books - with words misspelled or punctuation accidentally omitted, etc. That's why self-publishing is great. You can fix the mistakes and republish the book even after it's been out there for a while. But if you happen to find a mistake or two months, or even years, after a book has been published is it really a good idea to fix and republish it, no matter how minor or major the mistake may be? Or should you just leave it alone and let it be the way it is? What are your thoughts on this?

Amazon kindle publishing is for publishing e-books only. It's actually called Kindle Direct Publishing.I did one e-book with them but then removed it and published it with lulu, where all my books are published.

@skysnap Yes you can do both books there. And when you do an e-book it gets distributed to kindle, nook, ibooks, and kobo readers.

I don't think republishing is a good idea. If you come up with the mistakes in a book you are reading, you can let the publisher know about it. Publishing your own work is a better idea.

I don't see the sense to republish I see that as a waste of time and money, promote the one that is there already or write a new book.
