Forgetting Leads to Problems.

My day was off to an early start as I needed to get my car in for it's service. It was very cold, 3 degrees C and visibility was poor and I needed to travel over 100klms. A roo crossing the road came close but we missed each other and the early morning sun was not the problem it usually is. It was as I was leaving the next town that I realised I had left my wallet behind. It was in a drawer and i was supposed to remember to put it in my bag but I forgot. So many things were tumbling through my mind at this stage. I knew the mechanic would send me an account but I was also going to do a monthly shop and obtain fuel and i didn't have a brass razoo, not even the price of a cup of coffee. My day was ruined Meanwhile, did I have enough fuel to get back home? The answer - no. I turned around realising I had to get back home somehow. I rang the mechanic to explain and left a message then I rang my friend at home to see if he had any spare fuel, we often help each other this way. He had some and even offered to drive to meet me which was a life saver. I was able to head back to town, get some fuel and a few groceries and then go home, worrying about whether I was seeing the beginnings of dementia.

I'm actually much better these days at remembering to include it. I don't use it often but it's a lifesaver when i do, usually.

@MsTickle It is possible to get mobile phone pouches that include a wallet for a card or two and some banknotes, perhaps an idea?

@pgntwo I only have one card which is always in my wallet and yes, I have a phone case that can carry one or two notes but on this particular day with all the errands I needed to run, I would have needed about $300. Forgetting my wallet was a big deal. It's simply not like me. Normally I check and double check and I didn't this time.

Ten bucks doesn't go far these days but it's a great idea. I had a huge day planned for my trip to town.

@LadyDuck I so agree and it seems our ability to process things in an orderly way can vary as we age.

@MsTickle I think that there are moments that our brain has to many things to remember that we have those moments.

It's very unlike me to be forgetful in this way. this is why i'm worried. I always think about what i need to do, what I need to take and where i have to go and what time to leave and so on. It's in my nature to be extremely well organised.
