Help With The Dishes

Sometimes the jobs that we women have to do is tiresome. At home I have a dishwasher but while camping we have to start a fire, heat the water, set up a table to work on and then you can wash, dry and put away the dishes.
It only happens once a day, usually after dinner. We like our campsite to be clean before we go to bed just in case big critters are looking for something tasty. (All food lives in my van, unless we're eating it.)
We have a dish pan that holds our dirty dishes all day and some get cleaned by the critters that seem to enjoy doing dishes.
The chipmunks are very cute and certainly not afraid of humans. Of course when I know they are around I tend to drop a lot of peanuts....feeding the wildlife is not allowed...
I took this photo a few years ago and just found it yesterday. The chipmunks were entertaining.

Where there is a will, there is a way... When the kids camp with us with their dogs we don't need peanuts, Chippies love dog food too...

@PainsOnSlate Your photos almost make me want to go camping, but I don't think I'd be too happy away from the comfort of my bed.

@Gina145 we sleep on cots. On top of the canvas cot is a layer of soft foam (used on beds) and then an air mattress. Our bed is smaller than the one at home but just as comfortable if not even more comfortable....

We don't bring our men to camp. I have two sons who participate when they can (they were there this summer and one of Elaine's girls brings her husband) My husband has always worked from May to November so he doesn't participate. Both husbands wouldn't sleep in a tent to save their lives.

On campsite, everybody does their own dishes. Larger dishes...one per lady if it is a group or even that gets shared. Nobody can wait up for everybody to finish and do everything..instead of enjoying. Not fair. At home, I actually like doing dishes now...I used to hate it. I found a new way of doing it. I switch on YouTube..full volume...and I scream along with it...don't realize when they get over...it is pretty much like singing when we are having bath.

Now that the kids are grown they all pitch in and help with the chores when they camp with us. When they were little, we got tired of the "I did that yesterday.." so we made a daily schedule of all the chores - I'll have to find a photo of the chore list (it also included chef's helper). It was a wonderful thing. No more whining and they enjoyed the jobs!

@PainsOnSlate Thanks for the explanation - I thought they were similar in size to squirrels, but they are quite a bit smaller.

My computer is freezing up today....again. On myLot only... A chipmunk is tiny, a bit bigger than a mouse and they live in the ground, They are very cute and like to be around humans but they are wild so we don't get too close...

They are all cute until they become a pest. Actually we don't feed them often so they don't become a pest.

Good thinking... I do the dishes every once in a while but its much easier to just put them in the dishwasher and we run it at night.

I do use my dishwasher usually at night. a few of the dishes get washed by hand daily but the rest goes into the machine. I love washing the dishes by hand when camping... It mean onec a day my hands are clean!!! This short comment took at least 15 minutes.... Mylot is not letting me play and that upsets me.

We don't see bugs on the mountain, in the campground, occasionally a black fly or mosquito but very few. While hiking we have to cover ourselves in bug spray.

Did you tell him while he was there to help out and you'd see about dropping extra peanuts? I would've told him that and watched him run home to get his wife to help with the dishes! You KNOW he ain't gonna help with them!
