There is talk online that Donald Trump may drop out of the presidential race. This is unprecedented in the US history. What do you think will happen if he does? Who could they get to run in his place? What is happening to America?
Republican party leaders believe Donald Trump may quit campaign, and looks to legality for replacing the candidate as his campaign begins to shatter.

Did you read the "author's" byline? Sarah MacManus Political progressive, science nerd, journalist, fiction author, and cynic. I'd say Ms MacManus is making up stories.

That was not the only place I saw it. According to the news, he is still campaigning. It will be interesting to see what happens next.

@akalinus I wonder if this is true. I can tell you that it's going to be a big tease to those who want him to go away lol I'm not really sure how it all works. I don't even know what would happen or who would take his place if he did leave.

This is the first I have heard of it. It reads almost like wishful thinking. Although Trump has had his problems lately, I don't think his supporters will abandon him and that should make a difference.

There is no indication that he is even thinking about dropping out. That is a really irresponsible headline by ABC. It is all just speculation about what would happen *if* he did which, again, there is no indication he is even considering it.

@akalinus If they force him to give up, we are truly lost. Not because of Trump, but because the lowest element has taken over the US.

I think it is more likely that they might force him to give up.
