Do You Ever Feel Like a Cyborg?

After my procedure, I proceeded to get dressed in the recovery room once I woke up sufficiently. Neither my husband nor I noticed any strange things left on my body. I was surprised a bit later when we were driving to get food to see that I had a sticky thing left on my arm near my armband with a metal piece on it. It felt like it would rip my skin if I took it off then, so I waited until we returned home again to use soap on it which worked much better. Later on while fixing my bra strap my fingers ran into another of these sticky things. I thought it was odd that I didn't feel it when getting dressed. Later my husband happened to see a twin on the other shoulder. I'm surprised they didn't tell me about them. Maybe I should leave them on and I could get plugged in to have cyborg powers and be rejuvenated? Then I could do all my outside things in a few hours and mylot to my hearts content the rest of my days. When my husband went in for his many surgeries, they never left these on when they were through. This is probably normal procedure for this particular procedure I just wasn't prepared. My attempt at a bit of alliteration. I have many notifications to wade through this weekend but have hopes of getting some insurance papers done and a few other things first. Will visit with you all later I'm sure.

This is weird, they should have told you about those things and how to remove them.

I agree, Anna, although it could be on the paperwork I brought home, which I've yet to look at.

@Hatley This was after the colonoscopy, Patsie. It took all of about twenty minutes. Maybe they were trying to get everyone in before lunch and forgot that little detail. The ones on my shoulder came off much easier than the one on my arm. I knew they had me hooked up to their monitor with all my readings.

See? That's what I thought too when seeing the first one. After finding the third one, I dreamt that I had several implanted in different places too since my husband said he always had five put on him.

@sol_cee No, it didn't hurt at all. In fact if it did then I may have found them faster.

You must have started coming to and waking up too quickly for the staff to remove those. I've never come home with anything extra like that after having anything done.

Nope. I didn't come to until I was back in one of the recovery rooms. Maybe I'll call and ask whether those things are usually taken off after the procedure by the staff or not. It may be something they should watch for better unless it's the new way of doing things.

I'm sure these were how they hooked me up to the monitor that made sure everything was working correctly during the procedure. And, no, they didn't tell me they put these on or that they were leaving them there for me to remove on my own.

I've never seen anything like that left on after a procedure.

Maybe I'll save one in a safe place, which I probably wouldn't find again in ten years. But, if I could, I could take it back again and ask if it would save me any money to reuse one of them. That could be a bit funny.

I like your idea of being rejuvenated. I suppose they usually take them off and just missed them. Or maybe they expect the patient to take them off but then you would think they would mention it.

I thought they'd have mentioned it too. I did get a call from their office on Monday asking if I was doing okay after the procedure, and so I might just call and ask if it's normal that those are left one and that they may want to tell people about them.

Strange indeed that they didn't tell you about them. They should have given your husband some instruction if you weren't very alert.

Aren't those things fun to get off, Marsha? Now if we could have cyborg powers to get things done faster it would be great. I'd have this move done in no time.

I've actually come home with one or two of them, as well! I usually find them when I'm in the shower and it's quite a shock to feel something "alien" on my skin! Gives me a bit of a shock until I get it off and see what it is. And then I just laugh!

It sounds as if they were negligent in leaving those on, but I suppose there was no harm done.
