No Dial Tone...

My land-line phone stopped having a dial tone, and it says that it is in use. I have tried everything. I've unplugged the phone. I've reset the date and time. I've cleared everything I could think of on the phone. I even called the phone company, who said that they had no known issues, to prevent me from having a dial tone. And nothing seems to work. Does anyone have an idea, as to what the trouble is?

@teresatrotter Is there a store there that will check out your phone for you? Without charging you bucks to do so? You just have one phone jack, right?

Yeah... And it is crazy that even after getting a new phone, it still is not fixed.

No idea. When that happens to me, I just call the customer hotline using my cellphone. A technician would then visit the house and fix the main line across the street.

I tried doing that, but they won't come out, because they said that there are no known issues.

You might need to try plugging the land line phone into another outlet. The outlet itself might have corrosion or dust accumulation on it. If you have any other phones connected via a second or third extension outlet and one of them is faulty then the one you are trying to use may be defective or being effected by one of the other phones. If it's a single line phone and the phone works at another house, then it's the outlet but if the phone doesn't work at another person's house then the phone is probably not working properly and that means the phone needs replacing. The telephone company will come into your home and check things out if you have in-line service coverage, otherwise it could cost a lot of money to have their technicians come by to check out all your outlets, your phone and so forth. the outside box might even be defective and most times if the outside box is going bad they can send a tech out to look at it and may not even charge you a cent. But make sure this is the case as to their rates first beforehand.

@teresatrotter Depending on who your telephone services provider is, you can contact them and ask if there is a service center that can actually test your phone out at that location. Also, you might be able to simply call a Best Buy store and ask if they have a tech guru there who might be willing to take a look at your phone. I once bought a phone that was not working properly, returned it for another phone and the second phone worked as it should.Good luck.

It is brand new. I had it installed when I moved in a couple of months ago, because there was no other outlet. I tried to see if it worked somewhere else to come to that same conclusion , but they had a business line, so I need to find someone else, and don't of anyone right off the bat.
