I don't get as to why his family and even his loyal supporters want him to be buried at the heroes cemetery. I know he made contributions to the country but he did terrible things too, specially regards to the martial law which caused a lot of human right violations and deaths.
Wouldn't it be important to those supporters to remember him as a hero by heart? The new President just want this over with it and have him buried, but this might back fire at him in the future even though his goal is to unite the country.
Btw, my dad and grandma were ardent supporters of him back in the day.

It saddens me that Duterte wants Marcos buried there! He certainly is never deserving because he was never a hero. But since the President decided this, Marcos is most likely to get buried in the place of heroes. But even then, it will not change the fact that he was not a hero but a dictator and corrupt President who stole the government treasury and the man behind the murder of many political enemies and innocent ones.

Hello @salonga I'm sure he wasn't the only one who's at fault they were many high ranking officers, cops, politicians and other high up cronies who went on doing what he did to his political rivals.

The late dictator does not deserve to be buried in the Libingan ng mga Bayani. History is being written and martial law is getting a positive spin from those in power.

@Letranknight2015 there were three conditions that the Marcoses accepted to do so that they would be allowed to return here in the country.
the first would be that they will not have a stop-over here in Manila and bring Marcos' body straight to Ilocos. Second is that they will bury Marcos in Ilocos and third is that they will not ask for state honors when they do bury Marcos. The agreement was struck between Imelda and the government. The representatives of the government back then were Fidel Ramos and Rafael Alunan.

@allen0187 Did they accepted it? It would still bring worry and trouble for people who hated him during martial law.

I know he's the former President and most known to the world, but I don't think he's a hero after what he did during martial law @SIMPLYD I just didn't get it why can't they just bury him somewhere close to the people.

Those who experience the cruelty and the bitterness of martial law during Marcos' regime definitely would feel hurt by this upcoming burial of the late president. I have seen his mausoleum at Ilocos, and i thought it was a nice idea to have it opened to the public. It was even a tourist attraction. Now, i just wonder what will happen to the mausoleum if the burial will push through.
