Thinking About Time!

United States
August 9, 2016 1:40pm CST
I am thinking about making my days more productive. And as part of that quest, I am thinking about starting my day earlier. My teaching schedule varies quite a bit from day to day. Many days I don't teach until later morning or early afternoon. Because I am dealing with a great deal of hip pain right now, I have been getting up later, waiting for the advil to kick in before I stir--but I lose a lot of time in the morning that way. I could get up and write early. I write everyday. A great deal of that writing is poetry--writing, editing and submitting-- but some of that is legal writing--the stuff I do for money--- Are you an early riser or a late riser and how do you organize your time?

I'm retired so I get up and go to bed when I like. So I don't go to bed until about 4am and get up between 10 and 11am. Are you waiting for a hip replacement? I've had mine done and it makes such a difference.

So you stay up quite late! And yes, because of insurance issues, I won't get my hip replaced until January! A long time still!

@jaboUK I know--but my insurance deductible is really high, and my husband's is not--so I am going to go back on his plan to get this done--

@divalounger yes though when sleep hits me I often miss important calls or messages - very little wakes me when I do crash though it is rare

I'm sorry you are in pain. I am an early riser - really early - usually around 5 AM. I have to be quiet because hubby sleeps a bit longer. I go into my studio and paint or get on the computer to spend some time here on mylot. I am usually in bed at night by 9 or 10.

I am definitely an early riser. I'm up by 6:00 or 6:15 every morning, even though I am retired. I have a writing schedule and keep to it most days.

I think I need a writing schedule. I also teach voice. So my day is divided between my own practicing, teaching and writing. And my writing is divided between the legal writing that I do for money and poetry, both writing and honing my pieces with other poets--I am thinking about doing my legal writing early in the day--maybe up at 7 and done with that portion of the day by 10--that would leave me lots of time to get other work done

I mostly sleep late, but I am here lately been getting up earlier. I am like you, I want to better organize my time. Especially when I start back school in a couple of weeks.

I rise at about 7:30 but I stay up late, after midnight. I do my serious writing in the morning and then have fun later in the day.
