Many people use Teflon coated cookware and love it.(We use steel) It means less oil or fat is needed when cooking and less sticking and less clean up too. But, did you know that if heated above 500 degrees it could emit toxic fumes that could cause us to have flu like symptoms and scratched can omit harmful gasses? This is also highly toxic to birds. Stainless steel is a better choice. There are plenty that don't cost a lot of money, it is durable and is dish washer safe. Non stick cooking spray is always an option for cooking with this type of pan.
Here's a good article on the subject
THE DANGERS OF TEFLON PANS In two to five minutes on a conventional stovetop, cookware coated with Teflon and other non-stick surfaces can exceed temperatures at which the coating breaks apart and emits toxic particles and gases linked to hundreds, perhaps

The highest oven temp I use is 450 and that's with sheet pans or pizza pans, not teflon. I have a lot of stainless - I never put pots/pans in the dishwasher - it seems to make the handle turn funny....

@celticeagle If should not be on high heat for omelettes or eggs in general. I use a cast iron pan for steaks.

I think we use stainless steel ones. I don't often cook so I'm not sure =) Thanks for the heads up!

That's good. We have a nice set of stainless steel pots and pans.

I know about this and we are careful with the few non-stick pans we have.
