The Fridge Fiasco - the final chaper

Well folks, this vacation turned into a Griswold Family Fridge Fiasco. I would write a book about all the things that have gone wrong since we left home Monday morning but I don't thin anyone would believe me! The fridge issue here at our rental has finally been resolved but not without aggravation, confusion, tears, some 'bad' words and finally resolution. We were told the new fridge would be installed yesterday between 2-4. They showed at 3:55. Three guys, lots of discussion and walking in and out of the house. Finally the new one comes in and it's two inches too wide for the space. There is a home made self system screwed into the wall that they said they would not remove. Fridge wouldn't fit in with that system in place. I called the owner they called their boss - long story short - I told the owner I want all my money back and we would leave in the morning (today). She was getting very nasty and I am a paying guest! I told her, "I'm a Yankee and no other Yankee would put up with this." To which she said, "I don't get along with Yankees." She wanted me to leave the fridge blocking the kitchen door - the only door with a key - and leave the house unlocked with our dog in here. No way. The three guys could hear my end of the conversation and the youngest of them said he would take the shelves down. If they didn't the fridge would have to be returned. and they didn't want to do that! The shelves were loaded with microwave and every small appliance known to man. They moved it all. They also moved the sofa and put two huge gauges in the hardwood floor. The owner finally calmed down and told me, "You stay until Saturday and I'm refunding your total amount (over $1,100) plus an extra $100 for our food. I told her she better be here Saturday when the cleaning lady shows because this place is a mess with all the in and out and rain, the place is dirty. All the small appliances are lined up on the fireplace hearth, the wooden shelves are in the dining area We set up the microwave and fixed the counter area so we can survive the next few days. We finally got to go out to dinner around 6 pm which is extremely late for us. Talk about coincidence, our server was the daughter of the owner of the appliance store where the fridge and the three men came from! Small world, or should I say 'small town'.... So, today hopefully will be much better, no waiting around for phone calls or deliveries. Our time is our own for the first time since we got here. Would we come back again and stay here?
