You don't have to be mad to work here, they said - but it helps.
So I worked. I laughed. Beaten? Me? No.
How would you feel if the dilithium crystals were red-lining, yet the only thing warping was your sense of humour?
That's life, Jim - but not as we know it.
There are klingons off the starboard bow! It's worse than that, he's dead Jim! It's life Jim but not as we know it, not as we know it!

As a big Star Trek fan, I understood you right from the beginning! I got a good laugh from the song, as I haven't heard it in years. Many moons ago, back when cassette tapes were the latest technology and all the rage, I had recorded that song off the radio late one night, and played it over and over again until eventually the cassette tape wore out!

I had a tape that had a collection of heavy-metal tracks recorded at a party I was at one night, my first foray into exorbitantly-priced chrome dioxide cassette tapes (remember them?) - it lasted for years. Don't ask me where it is now, I have no cassette player on which to play it anyway...

@moffittjc Vinyl's making a comeback, but I doubt the tape will ever return in that format. Strangely, all your streaming media is still stored on magnetic media, but inside a hard drive rather than on a spool of flexible tape...

@pgntwo Believe it or not, I still have a box full of chrome dioxide tapes that I recorded music on! I don't have a cassette player to play them on, but I still have them! And maybe someday, when cassettes become popular again due to nostalgia, I can buy a cassette player and re-listen to all those tapes! I'm willing to bet that they will probably be of degraded quality by then, and have a "hissing" other type of weird noise!

I love that song - so funny I never stopped singing/quoting it for weeks when it first came out - places I worked being mad made little difference - they were still awful

@arthurchappell I'd forgotten that one! I think Come on, Eileen was the same year too. Nice :)

haha! Know you're expertly making fun of a show but don't know which one and didn't see it.

Oh, this takes me back to dancing in the living room with my younger brother. The 7" still exists somewhere at Mumsy's house. Fun times.
