Kicking myself

Did you ever come across a good deal and failed to take advantage of it just because you didn't think fast enough? I have done that twice in the last week! I decided to embroider a saying and put it in a frame for a gift... and as I was driving along, I drove past a pile of old frames of all sizes, put out for the trash. A man was looking through them and I drove on by! Silly, I know. I should have stopped and seen if there was one that could be used for my project. Then today we went to the farmer's market and I came across some purple okra. It was $2 for a small basket, so I decided to get some and he gave me all the purple that he had, which was about three times as much as would fit in the basket. He said that people apparently didn't like okra. So why didn't I make an offer on the entire box? He probably would have sold it cheap and I would have had okra all winter. One of these days I will surprise myself and jump on a potential good thing when I see it! Do you think fast enough to do that?

Live and learn! I love okra. I eat it raw or put it in salads.

The problem is that I never seem to learn! I like it lightly sauteed in butter. I had some for dinner last night!

@peavey Don't be too hard on yourself. I think you are doing well but we can't win them all!

I think I should have missed some opportunities, but it's okay, I just move on as I might forget about it very quickly. But, I also learned to just grab the opportunity if I really want it. If it takes me more time to consider and the opportunity just slipped away, that means it's not meant for me.

I've run into so many times. I try not to beat myself up over it. My big thing is waiting and then finding out the deal is gone.

I do that, too. I can't help but beat myself up a little. I guess I think that will help me do better next time.

If I had as good foresight as I had hindsight, I would be wise, indeed!

I don't get many good offers like that, but I would like to think I would jump right on them.

I have missed a few good deals in my time, and I have also held onto things when I should not have. I believe it evens out.

Some times the opposite happens too...we think too quickly and end up not getting a deal...or getting something we really didn't need. This morning I went to the quilt shop to buy a shop hop t-shirt. I was going to be upset if the last 2 had already sold out, but they hadn't. However, while there, the owner told me that my entrance to the quilt retreat at the end of October was paid for.

We all make mistakes, I mean if I knew i had a green thumb years back I would have committed myself into being a farmer in our backyard garden. The only thing we can do is learn from it and move on, maybe try to remember it and come back again, you might get 2 box next time, who knows No, don't kick yourself over it. okay

Oh, I know... still, it bothers me that I am not alert enough to get those deals when they occur!

Sometimes there are good sales and when I get home I think to myself I should have bought some of that it was cheap.

It turns green when you cook it. Kind of strange, but it's good.

This happens to me as well-the problem sometimes is that my mind is on other matters which it considers priority, so it sometimes is blind to what is in front of me-the reality is, I think this is very common and to some extent our survival depends on it, with the exception of dangerous situations, it's our minds way of focusing attention. Mmmm, that said, some of the things we focus on, are still somewhat trivial;).

Totally agreed! Sometimes my mind focuses on the wrong thing. That's not a good survival skill!

I sometimes have brainwaves, don't follow up on them and end up regreting it. Hopefully everyone does, I hate to be almost alone doing that

No, you're not alone! I don't know how many times I have had ideas then let them slide away only to find out someone else had the same idea and successfully followed through on it.

I have made many mistakes in the past, but better not kick myself but just continue and look forward.. At least I found a business that works and pays slowly but steadily!
