My Upside-Down Tree
Every now and every then
I tried to grow things even when
it was more fun to just go fishing,
but me grow stuff ? I kept on wishing.
Then I found a seed most rare,
an upside-down seed. Did I dare?
I planted it in nice wet ground,
the wettest dirt I'd ever found.
The seed flipped one way, east and west,
then north where it soon came to rest.
From my seed then grew a tree.
It was so strange - astounded me.
Its leaves were sunk below the ground,
the goofiest tree of those around.
The roots were high up in the air.
In all, it was a strange affair.
An upside-down tree? Could that be?
Roots on top where all could see,
just full of worms, all ripe for fishing.
My kind of tree. It suits my wishing.
