Sam Robinson reports the news the Tampa Bay Rays have activated from the 15 day disabled list first baseman Logan Morrison. Morrison has been on the 15 day disabled list since July 29, 2016 with a strain on his right forearm. Morrison will replace right handed relief pitcher Dylan Floro on the Rays 25 man roster on Monday. Morrison will be a free agent at the end of the 2016 baseball season unless the Rays see the value of re-signing him to a contract extension at a salary both parties can reach an agreement on. Morrison had been on a rehabilitation assignment with the High A minor league team the Charlotte Stone Crabs before he was promoted by the Rays to join their team on Monday. Morrison has played in the Major League Baseball level since 2010 with the Miami Marlins, Seattle Mariners and the Tampa Bay Rays. His return to the lineup will increase the chances of the Rays to improve their current last place standings in the American League East Division even though a playoff run is remote.

Morrison is a decent player and they need him but the Rays are simply out of it this season.

To quote the late New Orleans sportscaster Buddy D "If the Rays make the playoffs then Popeye is a sissy."

I hope so too since he can score a huge paycheck for another team next year.
