The photo above shows a "nest" or a home to leaf invaders as I called them. They fashioned the lagundi (Vitex negundo) leaves into an enclosed nest. When I tried to detach the stem to throw it somewhere, the red ants which bite so deadly would attack my hands. It's so itchy and hurting. Could they have those sting poison? Would you also remove the nest or let it remain there? They always attack me when I accidentally hit their "home."

Best that you get a professional pest control company to handle this infestation.

@acelawrites well, considering how much you'll save more from repairs, I guess the cost of getting your house sprayed is worth it.

@allen0187 yes, it is worth it, so before construction, the company treated the soil as well as all the wood used in it.

We had our house sprayed/treated against termites and other pests some three years ago, so I think it already expired. It is so costly too.

That's indeed a difficult situation because one false move of touching their "home" they would attack your hands. Ouch . So, how was it ?

Yes, they like lagundi, maybe because they do not like to have cough and colds or fever! (We were the ones who researched about the medicinal properties of lagundi long time ago).

@sol_cee our team from the Medicinal Plants Project of the then UPLB-NSDB (now DOST); we just collected the samples and some literature research. The UP Pharmacology Dept. did the testing, etc.

I would get them right out of there probably with a poison spray of some sort. I don't like ants.

@acelawrites I prefer natural as well but sometimes it is necessary.

As much as possible, I do not like to use chemical sprays; but it is your choice and sometimes pesky pests needed to have a dose of it so they won't disturb humans.

The red ants usually occupy my moringa or mango tree. I normally BURN their nest to keep them from reproducing.

Though they could be pesky, they still have some role in nature so I don't do it.

I'm not sure what I'd do. We don't have that type of ant here thank goodness.

It is a different type of ants, so big, that thrives on tree leaves for their nest.

Wow that is scary. I wouldn't remove it myself but maybe you could have professionals do it. I would be scared that they may be poisonous.

Yes, they have some kind of poison because when they bite, it causes redness and itchiness.
