Jesse Borek reports the news on Saturday the Seattle Mariners have activated from the 15 day disabled list right handed relief pitcher Steve Cishek from the 15 day disabled list.
Cishek had been placed on the 15 day disabled list on August 4, 2016 with a minor tear on his labrum on his left hip that did not require surgery which could have ended his playing time for the rest of the current baseball season.
To make room for Cishek on the Mariners 25 man active roster, the Mariners sent right handed pitcher Joe Wieland back to their AAA minor league team the Tacoma Rainiers on Saturday.
Wieland will likely return to the Mariners at the beginning of September when all teams in the Major Leagues expand their rosters from 25 to 40 players.
Cishek will be working as the setup relief pitcher behind Edwin Diaz who is now the closer of the Mariners when Cishek was demoted by the management of the team at the time of his injury. .

Good news for the Mariners who have been playing well and pushing to capture a wildcard spot.

Having Cishek on their roster should improve their chances of making a playoff run this year.
