Healthcare...

I usually don't like to write about politics because every one has their own opinions and some times the discussions can heat up and end up people calling people names. I decided to throw caution in the wind!! We decided to sign up for the "free" Obamacare health insurance. When we first applied, we didn't qualify for the "free" healthcare because we didn't make enough money!! The state of Nebraska is the only state that when you can't even qualify for "free" Obamacare, they don't have Medicaid or Medicare available to kick in!! This year we decided we would sign up, because my husband was expected a bigger raise and I thought I would be working (we thought our combined incomes would make us eligible.) So we estimated what we "could" make. That amount would make us eligible for the "free" Obamamcare with NO monthly fee and a $10 co-pay for just seeing a doctor. So we were signed up. The person that got us signed up stated that since we didn't qualify last year, we would have to submit pay check stubs of the higher income to the company before a certain date or we wouldn't get it. It ended up that my hubby didn't get as big of a pay hike as what we expected, and I didn't get a job. Therefor, there was no reason to submit information, because we didn't make that much money. Now we're getting billed almost $2,000 for something that we didn't qualify for nor did we use!!! ~Peace~ photo courtesy of pixabay

I don't understand why you and your husband don't qualify for the free healthcare. You got a job, maybe not the best job, but, it is a job. If people don't go to work and they actually can work, they don't deserve to get help. Only people who cannot help themselves need the free healthcare in my opinion. You and your husband work so you do your best, the work market is hard. You deserve to get the healthcare right now !!!

@STOUTjodee All right, but, that's not fair. Your husband works and none of you just sit on a chair all day long. Can they find you a job that will satisfy their needs ? If not, then at least they have to reexamine their standards. Can you maybe consult with other married couples who can't get the free healthcare so you can all complain together ? Tell them: `I work, she works, we are not lazy but we still need the free health care, why can't we get it ? we have bills to pay, we can barely afford bread to eat!!!`.

In order for a married couple to get the "free" healthcare you have to make a certain amount of money a year. Well my husband makes minimum wage for the State and Parks and is only employed seasonal.

Glad you have good insurance and that you have help with paying co pay. That's what healthcare should be where there are organizations that will help people with payments.

My experience was a problem as well and I ended up being billed for more than what I get on social security. There are many states that do not have the extended medicaid. I have tribal membership and the navigator that helped me sign up said I should not have co pays or deductibles at all, well that was wrong according to Blue Cross and Blue Shield. I paid out quite a bit. I am exempt from having to do it because I am native American, and hubby is still working at 70 and has health insurance. It has too many layers of implementation here for it to work for me. I know people who are glad to have it and it works for them so I am glad for them.

Yes, that's why we decided to sign up for it. Husband's brother has it, but of course he's single so it was lower income qualifications for him.
